Jing project, screencast screen capture software for PC and Mac

Check out some new screen capture / screen recording software from TechSmith, their first foray in to Mac OS X software (yay!)

It seems a bit “beta” but hopefully they’ll ramp up the features. The interface is clean and easy for casual users. Personally I’m still hoping for a real Camtasia Studio screencasting solution on Mac, but this might be good for casual use. It only seems to save video in SWF format though, which I don’t think you can upload to YouTube…

I bought a copy of Snapz Pro for the Mac and have been happy with it. It does great for capturing any kind of video on screen (recorded three hours of a web cam while simultaneously using Audio Hijack to record the audio from an Internet radio stream).

You don’t get any effects like with Camtasia, but I don’t really need those. It would be nice if they’d port that over though. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.
