Christmas card 2004

I finished my Christmas card for 2004.

As Amber commented, “it’s a little creepy”, but that’s what I was going for. I like a little bit of subversion in an otherwise sweet product – like the scary flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz, or the scary boat ride from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory:

There’s no earthly way of knowing. Which direction we are going. There’s no knowing where we’re rowing. or which way the river’s flowing. Is it raining, is it snowing, is a hurricane a-blowing. BAH! not a speck of light is showing. So the danger must be growing. Are the fires of hell a-glowing. for the rowers are still rowing. And they’re certainly not showing any signs that they are slowing!

All that in a children’s movie!

How it was made

It started with a cute picture of Lauren where I noticed it looked like she could be holding something between her thumb and index finger.

Since I own a copy of Poser, I knew I could create the elves that I envisioned, but I needed something better than the stock human figures that are bundled with the software.

So I visited DAZ Productions and purchased the Ichiro figure and add-ons. These fantastic 3D models were created by Lady Littlefox.

After customizing and rendering the characters in Poser, I used Adobe Photoshop to throw it all together.
